Court members are required to wear an all-white or off-white floor length presentation gown and long white gloves. The gown may be tastefully decorated but cannot have print or a train. Strapless gowns are acceptable.

Attire for court fathers and escorts is white tie: black tails, black trousers, black shoes, white shirt, white vest, white tie, white gloves.  Street Tuxedo, located at 2209 Bandywood Dr. in Nashville, offers a discount to the Bal d’Hiver.  You may contact Street Tuxedo at 615-386-0500.  We recommend a fitting one month prior to the event. Boutonnieres will be provided for fathers and escorts.

Attire for guests at the Bal d’Hiver is black tie.

  • A formal invitation will be sent in the fall which will include the ticket options for parents and guests of the court.
  • Court member presentation fees cover cocktails, presentation, dinner, and dancing for the court member and her escort.
  • Cocktails, Presentation, Dinner and Dancing is $350 per person.
  • Cocktails and Presentation only (6:00pm to 8:00pm) is $200 per person.
  • Late Party Dancing only is $150 per person.
  • The court member and her escort will be seated with her parents and others for a total of 10 people per table. Incomplete tables will be filled. If reserving a full table, we ask that all checks for that table be mailed at the same time in the same envelope. Reservations may be completed online at
  • You are not limited to purchasing one table. If you are hosting a large group, you may want to purchase multiple tables.
  • We are delighted to have your family and friends celebrate with you, and they may purchase any of the ticket options above. Because this is a private party, all attendees must be on the guest list and will be asked to present proof of their reservation at the door.

We prefer that all photographs be taken by Helen Burrus to ensure a similar look and style for the program. The photos taken during the Mother-Daughter Party on May 23 are complimentary.

If August 2 is not convenient, Helen is available for a scheduled sitting at a discounted rate of $100 (includes sales tax).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Helen will be unavailable to take photographs after Friday, August 16. If using an alternate photographer, photo must be taken with a light to medium solid backdrop. Attire: Appropriate neckline, solid white, or light colors work best. The image must be a black and white jpeg, 300 dpi. Image must be emailed to by September 1st.

Helen Burrus is also the professional photographer for the evening of the Bal d’Hiver. She will be available to take pictures before, during the cocktail hour, and after the presentation but before dancing begins any families who would like portraits and family pictures.  There will be an opportunity to  sign up for a time slot for your family.

There will be a mandatory rehearsal for Court members, escorts, and fathers on Friday, November 29th at 9:30am in the Ballroom at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. Dress is casual, although Court members might want to rehearse in evening shoes.

A block of guest rooms has been reserved for the Bal d’Hiver at a special rate of $189 per guest room. This block of rooms will be available until Wednesday, October 28, at which time remaining rooms will be released to the public for general sale.

Court Appointed Special Advocates

CASA’s mission is to advocate for hope, healing, and permanency for abused and neglected children in juvenile court by providing trained volunteer advocates in the Nashville area.  Since 1984, The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program has served Nashville by speaking for abused and neglected children caught in the court system and helping them find safe and permanent homes.

Family & Children’s Service (FCS) serves all people in crisis and transition by meeting them where they are, understanding their needs, and connecting them to the resources they need. FCS often ‘fills in the gaps’ in social services, creating a safety net to ensure that all children and families can be safe and healthy. Each year they provide services to more than 60,000 Tennesseans.

Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation

The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is a charitable and educational tax-exempt organization, separate and independent from the Fraternity. The Foundation is dedicated to securing and managing resources for educational, leadership, and philanthropic programs of the Fraternity and for the scholastic, professional, and service pursuits of its members to help them reach their fullest potential and make a difference in the world.
